What your numbers actually say.

Numerology gets dismissed as a party trick — but the underlying framework is more structured than most people realise.

What It Is

A system built on reduction, not guesswork.

Numerology is the practice of deriving meaning from numbers connected to your birth date and name, based on the idea that numbers carry consistent symbolic qualities. Several systems exist worldwide — Chaldean, Pythagorean, and Vedic numerology all use different calculation methods — but the version most commonly used alongside Vedic astrology relies on reducing numbers down to a single digit (or one of a few significant "master numbers") through simple addition.

It's worth being direct about what numerology is and isn't: it's a symbolic framework, not a predictive science in the way a calendar or a clock is precise. Its value, in practice, is similar to a well-structured personality framework — a lens for reflection, most useful when it prompts a conversation rather than replaces one.

Core Concepts

The four numbers that matter most.

🛤️

Life Path Number (Moolank)

Derived from your full birth date, this is considered the single most important number — reflecting core nature and the general direction of your life.

🎯

Destiny Number (Bhagyank)

Also calculated from your birth date but summed differently, this number is traditionally read as your life's broader purpose or direction.

✍️

Name Number

Derived from the letters in your name using a fixed letter-to-number chart — the reason some people adjust the spelling of their name is to shift this number.

💞

Compatibility Numbers

Life Path and Destiny numbers are sometimes compared between two people as an additional layer alongside astrological compatibility matching.

Worked Example

How a Life Path Number is actually calculated.

14 → 5
Say you were born on the 14th. Add the digits: 1 + 4 = 5.
06 → 6
Say you were born in June, the 6th month: already a single digit, 6.
1990 → 1
Add the birth year's digits: 1+9+9+0 = 19, then 1+9 = 10, then 1+0 = 1.
5+6+1 = 3
Add the three reduced numbers together: 5 + 6 + 1 = 12, then 1 + 2 = 3.
Life Path 3
This birth date's Life Path Number is 3 — traditionally associated with expression, creativity, and communication.

Note: numbers 11, 22, and 33 are traditionally treated as "master numbers" and are not reduced further — a nuance worth checking with a practitioner rather than assuming from a quick calculation.
